Crater Lake?s closest full service town is showcased by the Prospect Historic Hotel Bed and Breakfast Inn - Motel and Dinner House. Built in 1888 as a Stage Coach Stop half-way between the Rogue Valley and Crater Lake, this Nationally Registered Historic Hotel has been restored to all of its glory.
Crater Lake National Park is just 28 miles away. The Hotel is located between National Forests, wilderness areas and BLM land, on the banks of year round Mill Creek. You can take a short stroll to the Rogue River and three water falls. Pearsoney Falls is a 20 foot tall, wide cascade on Mill Creek. Located less then 15 minutes away on the trail that also takes you to the cliff view of the Avenue of the Boulders (car and room sized boulders located on the Rogue River that were thrown there when Mt. Mazama blew up 7000 years ago). Mill Creek Falls (a state listed Vista Point) is just down the road .9 miles. It plunges 173 feet into the Rogue River. Right alongside Mill Creek Falls is Barr Creek Falls which cascades 50 feet over boulders before it splits in two and plunges 150 feet into the Rogue River.
The area is ideally situated for Hiking, Biking, Rafting, Fishing, Birding, Boating, and Hunting summer adventures or winter Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing at Crater Lake.
The Historic Hotel Bed and Breakfast Inn provides lodging in 10 rooms, each with exquisite period furnishings and decorations, private baths and beautiful quilts on every bed. Hearty, full, belly-filling breakfasts continue the traditions of the original owners. Stay where Teddy Roosevelt, Jack London, Zane Grey, John Muir, William Jennings Bryan, and Hubert Humphrey slept. Relax in the sitting parlors, warming your toes at the fireplace and catch up on some local history form our collection of books and articles. Unwind on the wrap around Veranda with a glass of wine or a microbrew and a good book.
The Dinner House restaurant continues tradition by creating the best food in the region. According to Sunset Magazine it is ?the best Dinner House between Crater Lake and Medford?. Our signature Prime Rib ?is the best in Southern Oregon?, and guests tell us the Lemon Dill Roasted Salmon is ?better than what we just caught?. We are known for our friendly service, large portions, tongue tantalizing tastes, delectable desserts and affordable pricing. The Wine and Beer menu draws from the Pacific North West with a focus on Southern Oregon.
The Modern Motel (built in 1991 behind the Hotel) has 14 family and pet friendly rooms with Cable TV, Microwave, Refrigerator, and coffee, some with kitchenettes and some sleep up to 6 people.
The Hotel and Motel sit on over 5 acres of park like grounds. With over 500 ft of Mill Creek running through the property there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the serenity and the babble of this beautiful mountain stream. Stroll the grassy areas, play horseshoes, visit our two horses, or play with the ?Official Greeters?, our dogs; Chewbacca and Phoenix. Feed the rainbow trout in our pond (if the otters haven?t eaten all of them!). Take your picture with the three bears wood carving that keeps watch over the grounds.
Free High Speed Wireless (Wi-Fi) internet is available in every room in the Historic Hotel Bed and Breakfast Inn, the Modern Motel and around on the grounds.
We have lots to keep you busy if the swing on the front porch veranda hasn?t induced you into an afternoon snooze. We are in the middle of a little bit of PARADISE!
